Faith Changes Everything

We call it Destiny Haven for a reason. It’s a safe place. A place to breathe again. To recover. To rebuild. The women who come here have experienced trauma, addiction, and loss. Many arrive feeling broken and unsure if change is even possible. But they come ready. Ready for something different. Ready for freedom.

Have you ever wondered what that healing journey looks like?

Healing Is Like a Puzzle

Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s more like a jigsaw puzzle—made up of emotional, physical, social, and spiritual pieces. All of it matters. At Destiny Haven, we take time. Our program runs for 12 months or more so that each woman can begin to work through her story piece by piece.

And while every part plays a role, there’s one piece that makes everything else hold together.

That piece is faith.

Almost every graduate will tell you—faith is what changed everything.

Lucy’s Story: Spirit-Led Change

When Lucy arrived at Destiny Haven, she was in survival mode.

“I was in bondage to many different people, places and things,” she shared. “I spent years wanting to die and I partook in many different risk-taking and self-sabotaging behaviours as a result.”

Her life had unravelled. Emotionally, she felt overwhelmed. Practically, she lacked the tools to cope. Her relationships were broken. Her hope was fading.

At Destiny, she received clinical care, trauma support, and life-skills training. But it was the Spirit-led environment that shifted things the most.

“I was taught how to have a relationship with God,” Lucy said. “To the extent that I had confidence—even if I had nobody else in the world, He would be enough.”

Through the support of the team, Lucy not only healed, she found purpose.

Chrissy’s Story: Life Is a Gift

Chrissy didn’t grow up with faith. But that changed one night at Destiny Haven.

“I found Jesus,” she says simply.

Through staff who showed her God’s love and truth, Chrissy experienced what she can only describe as a miracle—deliverance from burdens she’d carried for years. In a moment, her heart shifted. She knew God was real. And she wanted to follow Him.

Of course, there was still work to do. But now, she had a reason.

“We’re not just trying to learn how to not drink,” Chrissy said. “This program works because the reason you want to recover is because life is a gift.”

That shift—from survival to gratitude—was everything. Today, Chrissy lives with contentment and trust. Her past no longer defines her. Her faith does.

“I am satisfied,” she says. “And I have everything I need.”

Faith That Overflows

For Janine, Destiny’s Co-Founder and CEO, the faith aspect of Destiny Haven is personal. Before helping others heal, she and her husband Lewis overcame addiction themselves.

“Every day, we’re grateful that God gave us the chance to lead others to Jesus—the one who set us free,” Janine shares. “And now we get to disciple women in their own journeys.”

Janine knows the stakes. She also knows the joy.

“Eternity is soon,” she says. “I just want to get there and hear God say I brought everyone He wanted me to bring.”
